IT’S SLIME O’CLOCK TIME

Staying at the Nickelodeon resort in Orlando, Fl. was a priority when planning my son's birthday trip. My son talked about the Nickelodeon Resort for almost an entire year. So I knew he would be delighted if I surprised him with a trip to the resort for his 5th Birthday.
Nickelodeon Suites Resort featured one-to-three bedroom suites and two waterparks; the Lagoon Pool and Oasis Pool. The resort also had a 4-D film theater, laser tag, 3000 sq. ft. arcade, golf course, basketball court, Nickelodeon-brand retail shop, and a few restaurants.

Nickelodeon Resort

After driving 6.5 hours to Orlando, FL. and telling my son we were headed to Chicago, IL. we had finally made it to Orlando. Turning off the main road, we drove right into the resort. My son in the backseat was as excited as I hoped he would be as the Nickelodeon sign came into view. It took him a minute or two before it registered that he would be staying at the resort for a few days. As we pulled up to the resort entrance, we were greeted by a friendly gate guard who provided information about parking and checking in. We were able to check in but our room wasn't ready yet due to the early hour. So we decided to walk around the resort and grab a bite to eat.

Nickelodeon Suites Resort is everything a kid would expect - from the waterparks, slime time, arcade, and the famous Nickelodeon characters (Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles of course). My son was suitably impressed as we walked around the resort. There were plenty of oohs and aahs as he discovered the meet and greet character schedule.

Two Waterparks

Upon returning to the front desk to get our room assignment (which took three attempts; being the first two rooms had a mildew smell). Once finding a suitable room for our stay; our spacious accommodations had two bedrooms (one room with bunk beds and the other room Queen size bed), a separate sitting area with a sofa-bed and flat screen television w/ a large window overlooking the two waterparks.

My son and I stayed at the Nickelodeon Resort for two days before heading to Walt Disney World Resort (Hilton). Let's just say the Nickelodeon resort didn't live up to my standards or any adult standards for that (The choices we sometimes make to please our children). Maybe that's why they have closed permanently (June 1, 2016). I am glad that my son was able to have the experience (Another check mark on his bucklist).
